Meet our new staff
Ms. Fernandez is a new guidance counselor at Overbrook. She went to school at Rosemont College and Widener University. Ms. Fernandez loves spending time and playing with her daughter. She also particularly enjoys lounging with her Great Dane. During her free time, she likes to cook, watch tv, or read. Ms. Fernandez’s favorite part about Overbrook is the people who have been extremely welcoming and helpful. Lastly, Ms. Fernandez’s advice for students is to always get involved. It will help you to explore new activities as well as get the opportunity to meet new people!
Ms. Story is a new English teacher at Overbrook. She went to Eastern Connecticut State University to obtain her bachelors of arts degree and Slippery Rock University to get her masters of education degree. Ms. Story has recently moved to Philadelphia and life in the city has definitely been a new adjustment, but she is finally mastering parallel parking! She has three cats and loves to play any sport, but is currently playing kickball. Ms. Story’s favorite part about Overbrook is how supportive the colleagues have been to her. Ms Story’s best advice for student’s is to always try your best and never be afraid to ask questions. Teachers are always here to help!
Mr. Lang is a new teacher in the Achieve Program. He went to Haddon Heights High school and then to the University of Delaware. Outside of school he enjoys going to the gym. He also particularly enjoys playing golf or pickleball. Most of all he loves spending time with his family. Mr. Lang’s favorite part about Overbrook are the day to day interactions with the staff and students. Although this is my first year teaching at Overbrook, he has enjoyed coaching the Boy’s Basketball team as well as supporting all the other programs and activities within the school. He looks forward to the athletic programs, ESPYs award ceremony. Mr Lang’s advice for students is to not worry about what other people think of you. Be yourself and follow your passion. Do not put limitations on what you can accomplish in life.
Ms. Russo is a new social studies teacher at Overbrook. She attended Rutgers University in Camden for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Outside of school she loves finding new foods and restaurants to try, as well as visiting historical sites with her boyfriend. Overbrook is a place that has been extremely supportive to Ms. Russo. There are a lot of people that care about you as a human and not just a teacher or student. Ms. Russo is very thankful that she has made the decision to come back to the Brook! Ms. Russo’s advice for students is to get involved and stay focused! Getting involved and taking part in school clubs, sports, and activities makes the experience much more enjoyable! Use those opportunities to make memories, but focus and work hard in class, perseverance is a key trait of success!
Ms. Nefferdorf also known as Ms. Neff is a new math, specifically algebra one and geometry teacher here at Overbrook. Ms. Neff went to Overbrook High School, Rowan University for her B.A. in Mathematics, Richard Stockton College for her M.A. in Education, and Western Governors University for her M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction. Outside of school Ms. Neff and her husband are supporting their three sons in their various athletic events, primarily travel baseball. However, to be a student athlete, they are first students. She works with them daily to reinforce concepts and skills learned in the day. Ms. Neff and her family enjoy hiking in the woods/trails, riding scooters in the park, and attending shows, live music, and plays. Ms. Neff’s favorite part about Overbrook is all of the sport options provided. Ms. Neff’s best advice for students is to follow the seven habits of mind, particularly having an end goal in mind and being proactive.
Ms. Cullen is a new English language arts teacher at Overbrook. She went to Rowan University. Ms. Cullen loves to craft and spend time with her two dogs. Her favorite part of Overbrook is the positive school culture. Overbrook is welcoming and fosters a sense of belonging and community for both teachers and students. Ms. Cullen’s best piece of advice for students is to use high school as an opportunity to explore different career paths and interests. Take elective courses or engage in extracurricular activities that interest you. These experiences will help you make friends, develop skills, and enhance college applications!
Ms. Passarello is a new biology and earth and space science teacher at Overbrook. She went to Neumann University. Outside of school she enjoys coaching middle school cross country, baseball, and helping out with the bowling team at Overbrook. Whenever she is not coaching you can find her at the gym, softball field, or working for her sister’s food truck! Ms. Passarello’s favorite part about Overbrook is the welcoming environment. Ms. Passarello’s best advice for students is to never be so clever you forget to be kind.
Mr. Hartnett is a new history teacher at Overbrook High School and is married with three kids. Outside of school he loves to cook and spend time with his family. He loves to travel and try new things. His favorite part about Overbrook is the community inside the school. There are always people willing to say hi and check in if needed. Mr. Hartnett’s advice for students is to always try your best. You will get way more out of hard work than being perfect.
Ms. Schultz is a new English teacher at Overbrook. She went to Stockton University. When she is not in school, she is either on her couch crocheting and watching reality TV or she is antiquing! Ms. Schultz’s favorite part about Overbrook is the pool on the third floor. Lastly, Ms. Schultz’s advice for students is to be vulnerable because it is how you connect with people and build lasting relationships.
Ms. Gordon is a new Learning Consultant on the Child Study Team at Overbrook High School. She went to Rowan University. Outside of school she is a mom of two little girls and two Jack Russell terriers. She loves baking treats, going to the beach, and dancing. She also teaches dance! Her favorite part about Overbrook is working with the amazing staff and meeting the awesome students. Ms. Gordon’s advice for students is to be kind, work hard, and always do your best!
Mrs. Duncan is the new assistant principal at Overbrook High School. She went to Rutgers, Camden and Grand Canyon University. Mrs. Duncan has been married for a very long time and has a daughter and a son. She also has a brand new granddaughter! Outside of school, hanging out with her granddaughter is her new favorite thing to do. She also has two cats. Her favorite part about Overbrook is interacting with and getting to know the phenomenal students. Mrs. Duncan’s advice for students is to have a variety of goals and stay focused on them. Remember, you do not have to achieve them by yourself, if you need support, ask!
